-The award-winning free boating festival is confirmed for June 2007-
The south coast’s biggest-ever free boating and watersports event, Poole Afloat, will embark on its third consecutive year in June. The two-day event, which was last year awarded Tourism Promotion of the Year 2006 at the Poole Tourism Sibbett Gregory Palms Awards, has firmly established itself as a major highlight in Poole’s summer events calendar.
We have once again joined forces with the Rockley Holiday Park – one of the premier holiday parks in England – who is sponsoring the event.
Supported by the Borough of Poole and the South West Regional Development Agency, plans are well underway for this year’s event, which will take place at Harbourside Park and Poole Quay on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June between 10am and 5pm. This year’s event will include a variety of exciting new features. New additions to Poole Afloat include Try Dive sessions, organised by Just U Dive. Visitors (over the age of 8) will have the exciting opportunity to have a go in a 30 minute scuba diving taster session in a pool based at Harbourside Park. There will be a nominal fee of £5 to participate in a Try Dive and bookings for this event feature will be taken prior to the event by Just U Dive.
An exhibition village will display the latest marine and watersports equipment and services. Crowds will have the opportunity to purchase from a diverse range of marine products from boats of all sizes including RIBs to motor yachts, clothing, safety gear, to watersports accessories, whilst obtaining information on sea safety and training courses. Visitors will also be able to get a taste of life on the water for themselves by signing up for ‘Try-a-Boat’, where a selection of the latest RIBS, powerboats and yachts will available for free scheduled trips around the harbour from Poole Quay Boat Haven. The ‘Try A Boat’ booking point will be based within the exhibition village at Harbourside Park.
As well as boating demonstrations, crowds will also be able to enjoy a schedule of free family entertainment including street entertainment, face painting and live music.
We hope that our members will support the event. The more exhibitors and participants we have the more successful the weekend will be! For further information about the event or exhibiting please contact Liz Lean PR Ltd on 01202 701828 or email carol@lizleanpr.co.uk.
