Rockley @ Poole Park, is celebrating after winning a top award in the prestigious Poole Tourism Awards! The Sibbett Gregory Tourism Awards recognise Poole's top people in tourism and this year Rockley @ Poole Park won a joint special sponsors award with other key figures at Poole Park. The special sponsors award recognised all of those involved in the transformation of Poole Park.
Peter Gordon said: "It was a great honour to be recognised in the Sibbett Gregory Tourism Awards! Since opening Rockley @ Poole Park earlier this year we have welcomed thousands of people to experience watersports on the wonderful 60-acre Poole Park Lake. Rockley @ Poole Park was created to make watersports accessible to everyone and the Poole Park lake is ideal to introduce beginners to watersports with its shallow waters. Poole Park is perfectly located to attract tourists, corporate groups and school groups who can enjoy sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and our newest watersport, dragon boating which gives up to 20 paddlers the chance to row together in 40 ft. boats! Our greatest success story at Poole Park is the Onboard scheme which gives youngsters the opportunity to get on the water. School groups from across the county visit Rockley @ Poole Park during physical education lessons and after school clubs to learn the skills of watersports".
Marina Developments Ltd (MDL) is pleased to announce that the £940,000 Drystack extension at Cobb's Quay Marina in Poole Harbour is now fully operational. This project was completed and handed over earlier this year providing an extra 125 racks. This makes the Drystack facility at Cobb's Quay the largest in the UK with 248 racks accommodating all types of sports boats up to 10 metres LOA.
Before the handover, the marina had a high demand for space in the Drystack so the extension was built to satisfy this demand. Enquiries are still being received in record numbers as demand continues to grow. Along with the extension, a second Drystack forklift was purchased from the ‘Hoist Lift Company’ in America. This allowed us to have a dual launch and recovery operation running at the same time from the dedicated launch bay. Two additional staff members have since been employed to cater for the increase in operations. In August, the dry stack team set a new record for the site by launching and recovering 136 boats in one day. To compliment the Drystack an additional 3 service racks were added, giving the Drystack the capability to have eight boats being worked on at any given time on the ground.
The Drystack extension has filled rapidly leaving just a few vacancies for anyone wanting to make the most of the benefits that Drystack has to offer. The Drystack option gives the boat owner the following benefits:
Drystack berth holders can also make use of their 'Club Outlook' membership to visit other MDL marinas at no additional cost. More information can be found at www.mdlmarinas.co.uk.

Peter Gordon said: "The AB World Inland Championships is a very prestigious event for talented young sailors and it was fantastic that we were able to host the event at Poole Park."
Peter Gordon said: "We were really impressed by the standard of the young sailors this year and were proud that many of the children taking part in the event were taught by Rockley Watersports instructors!
