The South Coast will spring to life on 20 June 2009 in celebration of its 10th annual FREE boating festival and watersports event, Poole Afloat. With over 30 exhibiting companies and 17 boats on the water in 2008, the event is set to be a real crowd pleaser.
This fun filled day, organised by British Marine Federation (BMF) Wessex, will once again give visitors the opportunity to discover the thrills of the open water. Investigate the latest in marine products and take in the atmosphere of summer days on the waters edge.
A highlight in Poole's social events calendar, Poole Afloat encourages people of all ages to enjoy an abundance of water based activity. Exhibitors will line the beautiful quayside whilst visitors enjoy an on-water experience with the signature Try-a-Boat feature in Poole Harbour.
Event organiser, James Sydenham said: "We are thrilled to be celebrating our 10th anniversary and really feel the event has grown to be a part of Poole's culture. With a selection of the latest RIBs, powerboats and yachts in full view, the event gives a variety of people an excuse to have fun with boating on a number of levels."
For its second consecutive year, the popular Harry Paye Charity Fun Day will run in line with Poole Afloat, celebrating PooleÕs very own famous pirate Harry Paye. The event will feature a host of sailing entertainment and pays homage to the brave town protector who took revenge on the French and Spanish who attacked Poole over 600 years ago.
